Our Story
Rooted in the idea of brotherhood
Akhuwat began with a modest fund of ten thousand rupees and a simple conviction: poverty is not a permanent condition, and dignity should never be the price of assistance.
Instead of charity that ends at the point of giving, we practice Qard-e-Hasan — interest-free lending rooted in Islamic financial principles, open to people of every faith. Loans are repaid without a single rupee of markup, and every repayment funds the next family's loan.
Borrowers are guaranteed not by property or income slips, but by the word of their own community — often in a mosque, church, or temple, reflecting the shared responsibility that holds the model together.

Five ways we walk alongside a family
Every program is built around the same principle — capital and support given without interest, so families invest in themselves rather than repay a lender.
Microfinance Loans

Process
How a loan actually happens
No collateral, no credit score, no interest. Just a clear, community-anchored process from application to repayment.
Apply locally
A family visits their nearest branch and applies in person, describing the need — a business, tuition fees, a medical bill.
Community guarantee
Two guarantors from the applicant's own community — not a bank — vouch for their character and intent to repay.
Loan disbursed
Funds are handed over in a public ceremony, often at a place of worship, reinforcing shared accountability.
Repay, interest-free
Monthly instalments return exactly what was borrowed — nothing more — replenishing the fund for the next family.
